CONAPAC works to install water filtration systems in schools, communities, and homes in the rural Peruvian Amazon.
Clean Water Systems
Install Water Systems
IIn 2008, CONAPAC built its first community water tower. At that time, it was common practice to drink water directly out of rivers and streams. Since that time, concrete community water filtration towers have been built in most of our larger partner communities along the Amazon and Napo Rivers. Our simple four-stage filter system is assembled in Iquitos and is then transported by boat to the community for final installation by our contractor along with community members.
In conjunction with these installations, CONAPAC provides interactive water workshops in which we educate both adults and children about the importance of clean water, the sources of contamination, and strategies for ongoing maintenance to protect the water supply.
Board president, Pamela Bucur, speaks about the importance of providing access to clean drinking water in Peru.
Systems For All Sizes
Not all communities can shoulder the costs and infrastructure needed for the community water filtration tower. This led to CONAPAC developing smaller-scale water filtration systems.
We have since installed systems in schools and individual homes in the smaller communities along the Amazon and Napo Rivers - and we continue to add units as needed.
CONAPAC partners with Global Access 2030 to bring new and improved versions of these in-home filtration systems to communities and families still lacking access to clean drinking water.

Water Education Workshops
CONAPAC hosts water education workshops in conjunction with our installations. Both adults and children play an active role in learning about and protecting their water source at these workshops.
Some common topics include:
Global water issues
Sources of contamination
The water situation in Perú
Consequences of contaminated water consumption
Maintenance of the water plants, etc.
Students in the community of 3 de Mayo, Río Napo, Loreto, Perú, enjoy clean drinking water from a community water filtration tower.
