Adopt-A-School
Our flagship program providing invaluable school supplies to students and teachers alike in the rural Peruvian Amazon since 1993
Adopt-A-School Program
Education is free in Peru, but students are required to purchase their own notebooks, rulers, pens, and pencils, which is an almost impossible financial burden for most rural families. Our Adopt-A-School (AAS) program provides these necessary learning materials(and more!) to every community in our partnership. The communities are committing to resource stewardship as well as ensuring their children attend school and take an active approach to the education offered in their community.
We are proud of our long-term commitment to these communities. The program supports a variety of schools, from one-room schoolhouses to combined kindergarten, primary, and high schools. What began in 1993 is now serving the children of those first recipients of school supplies. We love that this positive impact now spans generations!
The Adopt-A-School Program encourages intercultural awareness and exchanges of friendship and goodwill among Peruvians and visitors from around the world.
We Need Your Help
Want to help provide school supplies to rural Peruvian communities? That’s awesome. The most immediate way to have an impact is through a financial contribution. This will allow us to purchase these school supplies locally in Peru for distribution at the beginning of the Peruvian school year.
Not Just School Supplies
Under the umbrella of the Adopt-A-School program at CONAPAC, we also provide the following services to our Partner Communities..
-
Organize Workshops
Annual workshops for local teachers in the Peruvian communities to help expand their educational toolbox around Amazon conservation.
-
Build Kitchens
Building a new kitchen gives an entire community of kids the opportunity to eat food from the government program, prepared in a clean hygienic space, ensuring a healthy diet every school day.
-
Engage Community
We provide a variety of educational workshops to community members on topics like conservation, leadership, mapping and more.
