Did you know? In 2024, CONAPAC built three much-needed water filtration towers thanks to the incredible generosity of donors.
These filtration towers are more than just structures; they represent a vital resource that will provide communities with clean, safe drinking water. Each tower is designed with two 1100L tanks and a four-step filtration system built on a sturdy concrete frame, allowing communities to access clean water at a local level.
Before we begin construction, CONAPAC and our dedicated contractor visit each community to discuss the installation of the tower. In a spirit of partnership, the community agrees to contribute by providing a workforce for construction, responsibly sourcing the necessary wood, pooling funds to purchase a water pump, and nominating members to join the water committee. They also take on the important responsibility of maintaining the tower once it is inaugurated—organizing schedules for water availability, cleaning and operating the pump, purchasing essential chemicals and materials, securing gasoline for the pump, and repairing any necessary parts. We’re committed to supporting these communities by training operators, including preparing the first batch of clean water and educating community members about the importance of having safe drinking water. Additionally, we provide new buckets to every household, school, and church, and we conduct regular monitoring to ensure the system remains effective, replacing filters as needed.

The construction process typically takes about 20 days to complete. Once finished, we celebrate with an inauguration event, which follows a capacity-building workshop for the community. During this celebration, the local troupe “Happy Actors” entertains with a family-friendly performance that has an important environmental education theme.
Each water tower costs between $14,000 and $15,000 to construct. We are excited to announce that, already this year, CONAPAC received a donation which allowed us to construct a water filtration tower in the community of Puinahua. The entire community is anxiously awaiting the inauguration ceremony which will be held on the 28th of February. During 2025, we hope to construct two more towers to provide clean drinking water in two more of our partner communities. We sincerely hope that our generous supporters will step forward to help make this dream a reality.
